💎 Jewelry Knowledge

What's the difference between K gold, pure gold, and platinum?

  • Pure Gold (24K): Purest but soft, easily scratched.
  • K Gold (18K / 14K): Gold alloy, harder, more suitable for daily wear.
  • Platinum: Naturally white, does not tarnish, but more expensive.

👉 For daily wear, K gold or platinum is the most practical choice.

Why does silver jewelry turn black?

Due to oxidation (contact with air, sweat, sulfides), this is normal and not a quality issue.

Care Suggestions:

  • Use a silver polishing cloth to clean.
  • Avoid humid environments.
  • Store in a sealed bag when not wearing.

Can I wear jewelry while showering?

It's best not to. Cleaning agents can harm metals and gemstones, silver will oxidize faster, and pearls can be damaged.

👉 Safest practice: Take off all jewelry before showering.

Can diamonds get scratched?

Diamonds have the highest hardness and are almost impossible to scratch, but they can scratch other things.

👉 So, store diamond jewelry separately!

Can jewelry be worn daily?

Yes, but it depends on the material:

Suitable for daily wear: K gold, platinum, stainless steel

Not recommended for daily wear: Silver (easily oxidizes), pearls (more fragile)

How to determine ring size?

  • Measure finger circumference with a string and compare to a size chart.
  • It's recommended to measure in the afternoon for accuracy (fingers are more swollen).
  • If you have large knuckles, ensure the ring can pass over them.

Can jewelry cause allergies?

Nickel-containing metals or low-quality alloys may cause allergies.

👉 To avoid allergies, choose: Platinum, titanium, stainless steel, medical-grade steel.

Does jewelry need regular cleaning?

Yes!

  • Daily wear: Simple cleaning is recommended every 1-2 weeks.
  • High-value jewelry: Professional cleaning is recommended every six months.
  • Rings, in particular, are prone to accumulating grease and dirt.

Why are pearls particularly difficult to care for?

Pearls are "organic gemstones" and are sensitive to acids (sweat, perfume), water, and high temperatures.

👉 Care principle: Put on last, take off first.

Does jewelry retain its value?

  • Retains value: Gold, high-quality diamonds (large, certified).
  • Most jewelry: More of a "consumable item," not an investment.

Why do prices vary greatly for similar diamonds?

Because of the "4 Cs" standard:

  • Cut: Most important, a good cut makes it sparkle more.
  • Color
  • Clarity
  • Carat

👉 Good cut is more important than size.

How to store jewelry?

  • Store separately (to avoid scratching each other).
  • Use soft pouches or a jewelry box.
  • Beware of moisture and oxidation.
  • Silver jewelry can be stored in sealed bags with desiccant.

✨ In summary: Good looks come from design, durability from materials, and longevity from care.
